I feel like someone has asked this before, but couldn't find it - announced that we are being acquired by Vista today and would love to hear from others their experience with being acquired
Many have had this experience. What company do you work for? Melissa Meyer was at Influitive before they were acquired. Joel Klettke had Case Study Buddy acquired as well.
I'm only briefly a part of the transition and then I'll no longer be with the company.
A transition like this can be hard on a team; a lot of questions, fears, doubts, concerns about the disruption of culture and the security of their jobs.
My perspective is obviously limited, but it helps when there's clarity and transparency from the outset. It also depends on who is acquiring, I think -- is it PE trying to juice the company for all it's worth and looking to make a ton of change? Is it a similar provider looking to grow? It's always a mix of excitement, fear.
When Influitive was acquired by Jigsaw (part of ESW Capital), I was one of many who were laid off the same day the acquisition was announced. I've been through other non-private equity acquisitions in the past and found that any changes happened maybe 30-90 days later (gradually over time). Definitely always a stressful time when there's a lot of questions and not often many answers so I completely empathize.
I went through a Vista acquisition in 2021 (and worked at a Vista portfolio company in the past). I'm happy to share more about my experiences, although every acquisition is a little different.
That sound super helpful Taylor Page can you share?
I worked for a company that was acquired by Vista too. Overall it was not super impactful but happy to answer anything else directly. (If it helps- if I went through it again I wouldn’t be stressed)
I was part of an acquisition and my company is also owned by Vista. I wouldn’t stress too much. Vista is a solid organization
My company was acquired by Vista a few years ago and we are still a portfolio company. TBH a lot has changed since the scquisition, but changes in structure and leadership were over time and felt more natural with direction of the business vs. drastic PE changes. As Lisa Young and Jennifer Gladden said - I wouldn't stress too much right now.
