Hi all, I'm running a webinar this Friday for marketers across Australia who want to learn more about customer marketing. Would love love some feedback on this slide in particular, which outlines three pillars of customer marketing. Is there another pillar missing? Or examples that I've left out? Thanks for your help! Customer marketing as a function is moving pretty slowly in APJ, so trying to do what I can to grow it out here!
i think these are good! i think customer education could also be adde somewhere in here because i know in some places that sits with CM too and is tied to lifecycle. you could also show or break out separately the metrics CM owns/how each of these elements influences other parts of either the marketing flywheel or different outcomes at the org level to really hit home the cross functionality an the impact of the role. the biggest thing i would emphasize in this convo that customer marketing's primary focus area or pillar among these can be influenced by so many different factors - where it sits, the company strategy, the organizational and team specific OKRs, size of the team, etc. so it's not always about doing all of these things but about prioritizing based on what outcome we're trying to drive and working backwards!
Charlotte Weiss you may want to consider a slide before this highlighting the 3 customer facing disciplines. Customer experience. Customer success and customer marketing. With one sentence for each. CX has been around a long time and is mature, CS is is the middle child and CMA the baby. I might also break CMA into just advocacy and lifecycle and move the add on expansion into either of the 2. Probably would not go deep for this presentation as there are subtleties based on how the vendor sells their products add on / upsell is more in the province of CS. Sell clients more of what they already purchased. CM can help with cross-sell. Sell existing clients something new or a new buyer at a company what the initial client purchased.
Thank you both, very insightful!
