Hi! Those of you using community platforms, if they have a webinar type functionality (example something to host your friday meetups), what are you calling that feature/functionality to differentiate it from webinars?
I've seen this feature, I do not use it, because it seems like everyone loves Zoom. I actually have Butter which I like even more but I'm afraid the switch factor just is too much to overcome. That said, I'm happy to brainstorm with you. I'd call it Fridays Live, Off the Cuff, Absorb (company name) is Live, or Learning Labs (check lists below). Here's ChatGPT's take on it:
Casual & Conversational
Off the Cuff: Learning Edition
Unscripted Learning
The Learning Lab Live
The Teach & Tell
The Curriculum Jam
Freestyle Learning
The Educators’ Roundtable
The Learning Blueprint
Strategic & Thought-Provoking
Behind the Learning
The Knowledge Exchange
The Learning Architect
Instructional Insights Live
The Program Builders’ Forum
The Academy Sessions
Engaging & Community-Focused
Course Creators’ Corner
Building Blocks Live
Learning Leaders Live
The Educator’s Hot Seat
The Knowledge Builders’ Lounge
Prompt used: my community members specifically build educational programs, help integrate that into a name for the live discussion channel that differentiates it from webinars for our customers.
We'd add "Online" to the type of event it was. Webinar was positioned as speakers with minimal audience interaction. Online Event could have audience interaction. Online Workshop would have audience interaction, breakout rooms, etc. Online Roundtable Etc.
Thank you, Mary and Sofia! We are building a community product for our customers within our LMS and have this feature, but are still determining the best way to market it. So understanding how other community managers are using or referring to this feature is helpful.
Bc to your point most of us (including myself and my teams) use Zoom. The tool will integrate with Zoom, but trying to decide how it's differentiated than a webinar. I see it as a "friday meetup" or "community member" spotlight. Etc. Of course over time our customers will tell us how they're using it.
Rachel Ward, which LMS are you putting your community in? I'm still hunting for a community spot inside a tool we're already paying for or as cheap as I can get it. 🙂 And I'd think about theme words like "live, open, interactive, meetup, open house, office hours, drop in," etc. to distinguish it from formal, structured webinars.
Hello! I work for Absorb and we are an LMS and use our own product. We’ve just beta launched our community product so we’re using our own. I’m sorry that’s probably not helpful. Also thanks for the names. Our product is thinking of calling it Lives but I like meetups
