Why AI Prefers Detailed and Structured Reviews Over Big Review Sites According to SEMrush Report
Quick note on the SEMrush report that’s been circulating. TL;DR: AI doesn’t favor the biggest review site. It favors the most usable content. What the report shows: ChatGPT references PeerSpot more than other review platforms. What actually matters is why. AI models don’t evaluate sources the way people do. They’re not looking for volume or brand. They’re pulling from content that’s easier to interpret and reuse. That usually means: • More detail • Clear structure • Fewer vague or generic statements Short reviews and star ratings don’t give much to work with. They’re hard for a model to turn into a useful answer. Longer, more structured reviews tend to show up more because they include use cases, tradeoffs, and outcomes. That lines up with how customers describe the content. Some compare PeerSpot reviews to “mini case studies” because of the level of detail. So the takeaway isn’t really about one platform vs another. It’s that AI changes what “useful content” looks like. If the content isn’t detailed or specific enough, it’s difficult for AI to use it at all.
