Hi CMA Community! I'd love to hear this group's perspectives on how you handle the broad external sharing of assets collected by platforms such as Deeto/User Evidence/related platforms - what limitations do you draw regarding how to externally share? If a customer has submitted a quote or testimonial, do you take it to their Comms teams to get formal sign off on publishing on your website or in presentations first? Or do you take their submission as okay to use?
Hey Lauren, I have been hearing that User Evidence is a big up and comer, I do know someone who was evaluating them vs another customer advocacy platform - if you want, I can put you in touch (will have to ask them too)
Thank you Abbas! My company actually already uses Deeto (I'm also looking at potentially adding UE to the mix too) - but I'm moreso trying to understand how teams are deciding what they can use broadly in marketing assets that was submitted by a customer via a platform like this!
I've used both. When customers sign up, you should have them opt-in to an agreement that anything they share in the program can be used externally. If you're using any content for something big like billboards, bigger paid campaigns, etc then I think that can warrant a "heads up" email along the lines of "we really loved this quote/video and we're going to feature it in XYZ. Let me know if you'd like to make any edits!" I'd leave it up to the customer on whether they bring in their comms team. Unless it's a bigger logo, then you can make a direct mention of it.
Lauren Mahoney My bad there, I misunderstood then!
On the UE survey, I suggest including the question “would you provide approval to share your name and responses publicly, or would you prefer to remain anonymous”? And include the “hand raiser” question. The UE team can provide guidance on best practices. Given UE is a third party, it’s more likely that a customer will provide approval to share info publicly.
Also, to be mindful of some organizations have restrictions that their content/activations/etc can be used per guidelines like for public universities and other institutions/government.
