Is a catered lunch an appropriate incentive for customer advocacy?
Hi CMA community! 👋 I’d love to hear your perspectives on offering a catered lunch to a customer’s team as an advocacy incentive. I’ve received mixed feedback around whether this crosses the line into quid pro quo, and I’m curious how others think about it. Personally, I’m trying to understand where we draw the distinction between this and other common advocacy incentives. For example, G2 offering Amazon gift cards in exchange for reviews, or allowing a customer to select VIP swag after completing a case study. Is the concern the type or monetary value of the incentive, the expectation of a specific outcome, or the perception that we’re paying for advocacy rather than recognizing a customer’s time and contribution? Would love to hear how others approach this, particularly where you draw the line between thoughtful customer appreciation and an incentive that could compromise the authenticity of the advocacy. 🍔🍟
